RAGA, Mar 4: Hundreds of people from all the walks of life participated in a candlelight march organized by the All Kamle District Youth Association (AKDYA) and the All Raga Area Students’ Union here in Kamle district last Friday.
The marchers later gathered at the bazaar general ground and observed a minute’s silence as a mark of respect to the three youths who died during the anti-PRC protests in Itanagar.
The shops in the area remained closed, and traffic was stopped from 3-6 pm.
Meanwhile, the AKDYA in a release on Monday expressed disappointment over “the state government’s wrong decision which resulted in the death of three youths and caused irreparable physical injuries to the activists, besides causing huge loss of public properties and harassment to the entire indigenous Arunachalees.”
Expressing solidarity with the families of the three deceased youths, the AKDYA urged the state government to release all the booked or jailed activists and ensure that no legal charges are made against them.
“We seek to know why live ammunitions were fired at the peaceful protestors instead of rubber bullets, and we are also perplexed with the announcement by the state government to grant PRCs to the non-APSTs before submission of the JHPC report,” the association said, and sought handing over of the case to the CBI.
