ITANAGAR, Mar 5: The chief electoral office (CEO) here is organizing a two-day training programme for returning officers (RO) and assistant returning officers (ARO) of the state as part of the orientation programme before the general elections.
The training for the fifth and last batch of ROs and AROs is being conducted at Nokmey Namati hall of the state legislative assembly.
According to information from the CEO office, 77 ROs and AROs are undergoing training on various topics, including poll day arrangements, facilitation of persons with disabilities, accepting of nomination papers and documents, scrutiny of nomination papers, qualifications and disqualifications, postal ballots, IT applications, and such.
“Proper training is important for good and efficient management of elections,” said Additional CEO Kanki Darang during the inaugural programme.
Darang exhorted the officers to attend the training with utmost sincerity to ensure free, fair and transparent conduct of the elections in the state.
Deputy Commissioners RK Sharma and AK Singh imparted training to the election officials on the first day.
State nodal officer Lod Takkar also spoke.
