KHONSA, Apr 11: Polling official Tenak Socia died due to cardiac arrest while performing election duty in Tirap district on Thursday.
“Socia was the polling officer at the upper primary school polling station under Khonsa West assembly seat. He died due to cardiac arrest while performing duty,” Additional Chief Electoral Officer Kangki Darang told reporters here.
Socia was a work inspector in the water resources department.
Terming the incident unfortunate, Darang said that, as per the laid down rules, the commission would pay minimum ex gratia of Rs 15 lakhs to the next of kin of the deceased.
