PASIGHAT, Apr 11: Over 85 percent voter turnout in the four assembly constituencies in East Siang district was reported by Thursday evening.
However, reports from several polling stations were yet to reach here till the filing of this report at 8.30 pm.
Voting for the simultaneous assembly and Lok Sabha elections at 108 polling stations under Nari-Koyu, Pasighat West, Pasighat East, and Mebo constituencies ended peacefully at 5 pm.
The fate of 12 candidates of the district – four BJP, four Congress, three NPP and one JD(S) – has been confined in the electronic voting machines (EVM).
Our Roing correspondent adds: The simultaneous elections in Lower Dibang Valley district passed off peacefully. In fact, the chief issue was the matter of faulty EVMs and VVPATs at various polling stations in both Roing and Dambuk assembly constituencies.
The voting percentage till 3 pm was 65.74 percent.
Polling was also peaceful in Tawang district on Thursday, with Luguthang polling station witnessing 100 percent voting, according to the Jang ADC and the Tawang SP.
Although there was no report of any untoward incident, the polling process was delayed at five polling stations under Lumla constituency due to technical errors in the VVPAT and the EVMs. Polling was, however, completed after the machines were replaced.
As per the reports received till 3 pm, the poll percentage in Tawang was 60, with 69.19 percent in Mukto and 74.55 percent in Lumla. (With DIPRO input)
