GUWAHATI, Aug 28: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the new academic block and unveiled the bust of Bharat Ratna, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Royal Global University (RGU) here on Wednesday.
In his inaugural address, the chief minister emphasized on the need to follow the laws of nature and appealed to the conscience of all seated in the auditorium to conserve water and commit, with strong determination to restore and protect the environment.
He shed light on two vital elements which when balanced, can lead to growth and prosperity of a region – economy and ecology.
With reference to the Act East Policy, he spoke about how this part of the country was previously neglected and its stride towards integration of the Northeast region with both the ASEAN and the BBIN countries.
He further advised the students to strive to be smarter than the smartest, in this age of cut-throat competition where only the fittest will survive.
Later, a cheque of Rs 5 Lakhs was also donated towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for flood victims of Assam by the faculty and staff of RGU and Royal Global School from their one day’s salary.

Pansari, Chancellor, A K Modi, Pro-Chancellor, Prof Dr SP Singh, Vice-Chancellor, faculty and students also attended the programme.
