ITANAGAR, Oct 15: An FIR has been lodged at SIC (Vigilance) demanding investigation into the ‘huge misappropriation of fund, misuse of official position, involvement in criminal activities’, allegedly by then executive engineer (elect) of Deomali electric division and Namsai electric division during July 2012 to June 2015 at Deomali and from December 2015 to June 2018 in Namsai.
Levelling a series of allegation, one Charu Giania of Itanagar in his FIR to the SP, SIC Vigilance on Tuesday, said that former Tirap DC late Kamlesh Joshi had complained to the Power secretary on 6 July, 2014 regarding ‘misappropriation of Rs 195.11 Lakhs received from PWD, Highway for the shifting of public utilities.’
Giania further claimed that the said EE had illegally been operating a SB account at ICICI Bank, Segunbari in Assam without government approval since 2017 and misappropriated a huge amount of Rs 2 crore (approx) through this illegal account leading great loss to the state exchequer.
The complainant, Giania further alleged that the EE had also misappropriated a sum of Rs 1.76 crore in a deposit work scheme, namely: Downstream 33 KV double circuit line from 132/33KV Power Grid Sub – Station at Khoroliang to 33KV Sub – Station at Power House, Tezu, when he was in the Namsai electric division.
