ITANAGAR, Nov 4: The All Arunachal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) has written to the chief minister regarding the lack of correspondence from the CM’s office or any other department in the matter of addressing the AACWA’s five-point memorandum which it said had been submitted on 28 August last year.
The association requested the chief minister to instruct or appoint a “responsible person” to officially hold discussions with the association regarding the memorandum, and in turn help the contractors’ community.
The AACWA’s demands include adoption of 2.4 percent bank guarantee or performance guarantee for tribal contractors; introduction of work order system of work valued below the estimate amount of Rs 20 lakhs; strict implementation of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh (Allocation) Rules, 1998; parking government sanctioned schemes’ funds at the chief engineer and director levels; and “banning the involvement of unseen expenditure during tender process.”
