The Apollo Hospitals Group has become the first major healthcare company to open its information centre in Arunachal Pradesh. The information centre was inaugurated in Itanagar on Thursday. The centre will provide required information and also assist patients who wish to undergo treatment at Apollo Hospitals. Arunachal Pradesh lacks good hospitals. The healthcare scenario is still very pathetic. This has forced the people to go outside the state for treatment. The lone medical college, TRIHMS, is still in its early days. The college does not have the required infrastructure like the AIIMS and the NEIGRIHMS to treat patients.
The majority of the government-run hospitals lack good infrastructure. The situation is the same with the private hospitals. Entry of major private players like Apollo, Fortis, etc, can help to improve the healthcare scenario in the state. These private groups should explore the possibility of establishing proper hospital in the state. The Apollo Group has made the first move by opening their information centre here. The next logical step would be to open a branch hospital. The state government on its part should extend all possible assistance for establishing high-quality private hospitals in the state. The entry of private groups will intensify the competition among them, and it will help to improve the healthcare facilities in the state.
