Union Minister of State (MoS) for Youth Affairs & Sports, Kiren Rijiju, during an event in West Siang district on Monday alleged that implementation of central schemes in the state are facing problems. Rijiju claimed that coordination between the state and the Centre regarding funding of schemes is going on well, but the problem lies in its implementation. This statement of the MoS is strange, considering the fact that there is BJP government at the Centre and in Arunachal Pradesh. Is Rijiju pointing a finger at his own government in the state for failing to implement the schemes? During his first stint as a union minister in the previous term, he often used to blame the then Congress government in the state for allegedly failing to implement the central schemes.
However, at present there is a BJP government in the state, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu. If the BJP is finding it difficult to implement the schemes even now, there is a serious problem. The party has absolute majority both at the Centre and in the state. It is the duty of the state government to ensure that schemes and projects are properly implemented at the grassroots. By alleging that there is some problem in implementation of schemes in the state, the MoS has raised a serious concern. This allegation needs to be taken seriously. Chief Minister Pema Khandu should take note of the concern and take corrective measures. Rijiju’s statement is a major embarrassment for the BJP government in the state, particularly for the chief minister. It shows his government in poor light.
