YUPIA, Jan 31: Papum Pare DC Pige Ligu held a coordination meeting with the district medical officer, members of the district surveillance unit, and administrative officers here on Friday to review the district’s preparedness for the novel coronavirus (nCoV) and to discuss preventive steps against it.
The DC directed the DMO to “circulate the dos and don’ts, travel advisories and guidance documents to all MOs and administrative officers” to spread more awareness on the nCoV in their respective areas.
He also directed the DMO to set up a control room to respond to queries on coronavirus in the district.
DMO Dr Subu Tasso Kampu stressed the need to spread more awareness on precautionary measures against coronavirus, and DSU epidemiologist Ili Angu made a PowerPoint presentation on the nCoV.
East Kameng DC Gaurav Singh Rajawat also on Friday convened a coordination meeting in Seppa with the district surveillance unit and other stakeholders.
The DC urged the health department to immediately open a “24×7 control unit” in the district hospital “to deal with occurrence of any kind of untoward cases related to coronavirus outbreak.”
Suggesting issuing a travel advisory to the people, Rajawat directed the department to “put in place a mechanism of surveillance and contact tracing through integrated disease surveillance programme.”
He also advised the health department to circulate the dos and don’ts with regard to the nCoV.
ADC Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla, DMO Dr Lal Chand Darung, District Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Kopi Gyadi, MOs and other health staffers attended the meeting. (DIPROs)
