MARSHING, Feb 16: Forty-nine livestock farmers from Marshing, Domkho, Sanglem and other villages participated in an ‘awareness camp on scientific feeding and management of highland animals’, organised here in West Kameng district by Dirang-based National Research Centre on Yak (NRCY) on Sunday.
Kalaktang Senior Veterinary Officer, Dr Dorjee Tsering, briefed the farmers on the programme’s objective, while NRCY Administrative Officer N Khuchilu apprised them of the institute’s activities.
Senior scientist Dr D Medhi spoke about “scientific feeding, breeding and reproductive and health management of different highland animals,” and Technical Officer P Namje apprised the farmers of hygienic methods of milk production and value-addition to their products.
Marshing GB Neten Dorjee and NRCY Director, Dr P Chakravarty, also spoke.
Raincoats, mineral mixtures, concentrate yak feed, veterinary medicines, etc, were later distributed among the farmers.
The camp was organised in collaboration with the animal husbandry, veterinary & dairy development department.
