ITANGAR, Feb 19: Members of the Silsango Forest Management Committee (SVFMC) have strongly opposed the state government’s move to acquire land at Sarch Gai village for implementation of village reserved forest under Sagalee Forest Range as per order no. DLRSO/Govt/PP-02/2017 dt 18/11/2019 and claimed the said area as their ‘ancestral land.’
In a signed memorandum addressed to the Papum Pare deputy commissioner on Wednesday, the SVFMC said that the boundary description for the said project includes their ancestral land.
The SVFMC also claimed that earlier in 2014, the said land was requisitioned for other purpose by the state government, to which the members strongly objected forcing the authorities to suspend the decision to acquire land.
