ITANAGAR, Mar 26: The All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) has requested the state government to initiate measures to ensure the health and safety of the students from Arunachal who are stuck in different states of the country because of the 21-day lockdown announced in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The union urged the state government to identify the stranded students and provide them with proper accommodation through the offices of the state’s deputy resident commissioners (DRC) in those states.
While steps should be taken to ensure that those students have adequate ration and medical supplies, the government should provide one-time financial aid to the stranded students through the DRCs “as banking services too have been affected due to the lockdown, and also considering that most of the students belong to poor families,” the ANSU suggested.
The union appealed to the students outside the state to strictly observe the lockdown, follow the directions and advisories issued by the government from time to time, and not succumb to fake news and rumours related to Covid-19.
