ITANAGAR, Jul 21: Governor BD Mishra has advised the education minister and the education secretary to prepare a proper plan and ensure that girl students are admitted in the Sainik School in Niglok, in East Siang district, in the coming academic session, which starts in April 2021.
The governor also called upon girl students and their parents to avail the opportunity.
During a discussion with Education Minister Taba Tedir and Education Secretary Niharika Rai, who called on him at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday, Mishra said “basic facilities, particularly infrastructure, must be provided to the Sainik School, so that young students, especially the girl students, have all the opportunities to imbibe good education, discipline and sports competence and nationalism.”
The governor said every child should have equal opportunity to excel in life, particularly in education.
“It is a proven fact that girl education raises the standard of living in economic, social and health terms,” he added.
Tedir informed that the central government has approved the admission of girls in Class 6 at the Sainik School from the 2021-22 academic session. He also briefed the governor on the online education and other steps taken by the state government in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. (Raj Bhavan)
