After a long wait, the two-lane bridge over the Senki river in Chandranagar, Itanagar, was inaugurated on Sunday. The bridge, constructed as part of the ongoing four-lane road construction, is expected to massively ease the traffic congestion in the area. The existing one-lane bridge was failing to meet the demands and often there used to be massive jams along this particular stretch of the road. Further, the blacktopping of a major portion of the Chandranagar to Papu Nallah stretch of the four-lane is also complete. Two more two-lane bridges are supposed to come up in Chandranagar and both might take some time to complete.
Now the main focus will shift to construction of the underpass in Bank Tinali area of Itanagar. The traffic has been diverted due to the ongoing work. This has made life difficult for the people of the capital. The Bank Tinali road is very important and it connects major parts of the city. The closure of the road and subsequent traffic diversion is causing immense trouble to the citizens. The contractor, TK Engineering, along with PWD highway has done a commendable job in completing the blacktopping work on time. They need to exhibit similar enthusiasm and sincerity to complete the underpass work on time. They have sought three months’ time and it ends in the month of May. In the best interest of the denizens of the capital, they should complete the underpass work by May and open it for traffic by June. For this, they need to increase manpower and put more machinery at the work site. Work should be taken up in multiple shifts in order to complete it at the earliest.
