ITANAGAR, 12 May: A 59-year-old man in the 9th battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police from Lohitpur, Lohit district has died of Covid-19 infection at the district Covid health centre in Tezu on Tuesday.
According to the DHS report, the patient was also suffering from hypertension and hyperthyroidism. He tested Covid positive through RAT at the Sunpura check gate on 11 May.
He had received the first dose of vaccine on 29 April.
With this, the death toll in the state due to Covid infection has reached 69.
On Wednesday, the state reported 279 new Covid-19 cases, of which 71 are symptomatic.
Itanagar Capital Complex recorded 73 cases, while Lower Subansiri reported 35. Lohit detected 33 new cases.
Also, a total of 108 patients were declared recovered or discharged on the same day.
The dedicated Covid hospital in Chimpu (DCH) has 41 patients while the DCH Pasighat has five. The DCHC Midpu has nine patients.
The state quarantine facility at Lekhi has 54 occupants. (See full bulletin)
