KOLORIANG, 1 Jun: Local MLA Lokam Tassar has assured to provide rapid antigen test (RAT) kits for the people of Koloriang constituency free of cost in a phased manner.
Tassar gave the assurance during a meeting convened by Kurung Kumey DC Nighee Bengia here on Tuesday to discuss measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the district.
The MLA advised all the health workers to work with sincerity to control the pandemic in the district.
The DC also appealed to NGOs and civil society bodies to cooperate with the district administration in the fight against the pandemic and make Kurung Kumey a Covid-19-free district.
Earlier, Tassar launched the pneumococccal conjugate vaccine at Chera Talo District Hospital here. He asked the ASHAs and health workers to create awareness in the community about the importance of the vaccine that helps protect against pneumococcal diseases in both children and adults.
Tassar, who is also the advisor to the PHE&WSD minister, suggested to the Koloriang DRCHO to involve the panchayat members and senior citizens in creating mass awareness on Covid-19 and the importance of vaccination against Covid-19.
Later, he visited the TrueNat laboratory in the district hospital. Expressing disappointment that no laboratory technician has been posted there, he assured to take up the matter (of posting a laboratory technician) with the competent authority.
