PASIGHAT, 13 Jul: Urban Development (UD) Secretary Mitali Namchoom along with Town Planning & ULB Director Likha Suraj on Monday took stock of various projects under the Pasighat smart city mission (SCM).
Later, during a review meeting convened by East Siang DC Dr Kinny Singh, Namchoom said that future project proposals of urban stakeholder agencies should be accompanied by documents on land availability, certified by the district administration for necessary approval.
On the issue of smart city projects, Namchoom said “any physical infrastructure projects should incorporate the elements that reflect local traditional and cultural values, including the upcoming ‘welcome gate’ project.”
The DC urged the secretary to “provide enough sanitation labourer posts to ensure that sanitation of the city is maintained at all times.”
She also briefed the secretary on the challenges and the reasons for the inordinate delay in implementation of the smart city projects “due to not delegating enough financial power to the SPV.”
Suraj on his part assured to release the grants due to the Pasighat Municipal Council under the 14th Finance Commission.
The meeting was also attended by Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong, Pasighat Smart City Development Corporation Limited CEO Wayong Khimyun, Chief Councillor Okiam Moyong Borang, Deputy Chief Councillor Rebeka Megu, officers of the PMC, and others. (DIPRO)
