ZIRO, 6 Nov: The geography and anthropology departments of St Claret College, Ziro in Lower Subansiri district organized an international conference on ‘Application of remote sensing and GIS for disaster management’ via Google Meet on Saturday.
During the conference, Prof SK Patnaik from RGU’s geography department deliberated on ‘Disaster mitigation strategies with the help of GIS’, Prof Dhrubajyoti Sahariah from Gauhati University’s geography department focused on ‘Monitoring disasters through remote sensing: Global to local scale’, and Dr Chandan Kumar from the Colorado School of Mines, USA, presented a paper on ‘Landslide susceptibility prediction in arid-mountainous terrain of southern Peru using machine learning models’.
About 60 national and international participants, comprising academicians, educationists, research scholars and students, attended the conference.
