Peddler arrested, drug seized

NAMSAI, 29 Apr: The anti-drug squad of the Namsai police, led by DSP (P) Kengo Dirchi, along with personnel of the A/186 Bn CRPF, on Friday arrested one Chow Mokham Simit, of Paleng village in Namsai district, and seized suspected drug and other items from his possession.

Following the arrest, which was made in the presence of Executive Magistrate Hage Nari and independent witnesses, the joint team seized “three small-sized plastic container containing white and orange colour powdery substance, suspected

to be contraband substance, weighing approximately six grams,” the police said.

A weighing machine, suspected to have been used for weighing contraband substance, along with Rs 3,50,000, suspected to be sales proceeds, was also seized.

The accused has been arrested, and a case [No 23/2022 u/s 21 (b) NDPS Act] has been registered at the Namsai police station.

“In last one week, anti-drug squad of Namsai district has arrested at least eight other drug peddlers from various locations under Namsai district, recovered contraband substance, and regular cases have been registered against them,” Namsai SP DW Thongon informed.
