ITANAGAR, 25 Jun: Arunachal Pradesh reached the quarterfinals of the Hero Jr (U-17) Women’s National Football Championship, defeating Goa 3-0 in their last group stage match played in Guwahati, Assam, on Saturday.
Unbeaten in the tournament so far, Arunachal took an early lead three minutes into the game through Tallo Ana. Angel Tayang further extended their lead to 2-0 by scoring in the 56th minute.
Ana scored her second goal in the 67th minute to seal the match 3-0.
Tayang received her second player of the match award in the competition for her excellent performance.
The team’s head coach Kipa Bharat said, “We are glad to remain unbeaten so far in the competition and to qualify for the knockout stage. Giving best is the only key to success and we will continue to do so in days to come.”
Arunachal will play Chhattisgarh in the quarterfinals on 29 June.
