MLA inaugurates registration certificate centre

YUPIA, 8 Jul: Doimukh MLA Tana Hali Tara on Friday inaugurated a ‘registration certificate centre’ at the Papum Pare district transport office (DTO) here for online issuance and printing of PVC driving licence cards.

The DTO here is the first to introduce the PVC card system in the state.

The MLA in his speech said that the initiative “will be hassle-free and a great source of revenue generation for the district,” and requested the transport department to emphasise more on revenue generation.

He also exhorted the department’s officers to “come up with new ideas and initiatives for better development.”

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Rana appealed to all license holders to “always follow all basic traffic rules while driving on the roads to stay safe for self and others.”

District Transport Officer YL Yumlam said that the department “felt that we should move along with time and, despite having management issue, we worked as a team to initiate PVC card system of issuance of driving licence and registration certificate service in Yupia.”

She apprised the MLA of the manpower shortage in the department and said that “we need good manpower support for smooth delivery of services to the public.” (DIPRO)
