TEZU, 23 Sep: A team of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR), led by its Chairperson Gumri Ringu, visited Lohit district on Friday to review the implementation of the Poshan Maah programmes and child rights-related issues in the district.
Addressing anganwadi workers, parents and general public in the presence of Telluliang GB and government officers in Telluliang, Ringu urged them to “lodge complaints at the police station if any underage child is found working as domestic help.”
She also highlighted the functioning of the APSCPCR and spoke on the POSCO Act.
DC Marge Sora urged the anganwadi workers to sincerely perform their duties towards children attending anganwadi centres. He asked the GBs and the public to “do away with the practice of keeping underage children as domestic help and inform the police if any such practice is witnessed.”
CDPO Sujan Krisikro said that the women & child development department in Tezu, in collaboration with various departments, carried out various activities to mark the Rashtriya Poshan Maah.
The APSCPCR team also visited the government higher secondary schools here and in Tribal Colony, and interacted with the schoolchildren. (DIPRO)
