ITANAGAR, 23 Sep: Former vice president of the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU), Jigom Hiri, passed away on Friday morning in his native village Kaatrijo in Kamle district.
He had served as the ANSU vice president from 2009 to 2011.
The ANSU expressed deep sadness over the untimely death of its former vice president. In a statement, the union stated that Hiri’s death “has left a huge vacuum that will be difficult to fill.”
“He served ANSU and the Nyishi community with utmost sincerity during his tenure as VP. He was a much respected senior student leader and a humble soul. His death is a massive loss to every one of us,” said the ANSU.
The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has also deeply mourned the sudden and untimely demise of Hiri, and offered heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.
“He was a soft spoken, warm-hearted and dedicated person and was very active in social activities,” NES president Bengia Tolum said in a condolence message.
Tolum said that Hiri’s untimely demise “is a great loss for the Nyishi community in particular and the state as whole.”
The All Nyishi Youth Association also expressed shock over Hiri’s untimely death, with its general secretary Bengia Tada describing Hiri’s death as “a great loss to the Nyishi community in particular and the state as a whole.”
“He was a humble, soft-spoken, hardworking, and genuine person. May almighty god give enough strength to his family members during this trying time,” said Tada.
