Fawn rescued, released into jungle

YACHULI, 18 May: A 10-day-old fawn was rescued and released back into the jungle here in Lower Subansiri district on Wednesday.

The young male barking fawn had strayed away from the rest of its family, and the villagers of Belo in Yachuli circle found it roaming alone, bleating for help, in the nearby jungle.

The villagers, under the supervision of Yachuli

Range Forest Officer Likha Obi, released the fawn back into the jungle.

“The people of Lower Subansiri district are surely and slowly turning into conservationists and nature lovers, as is evidenced by this small but significant Good Samaritan act and the rescue of a seven feet long python from the same circle a few weeks back,” Obi said. (DIPRO)
