DAPORIJO, 18 May: The All Tagin Students’ Union (ATSU) and the All Tagin Youth Organisation (ATYO) have submitted representations to the Upper Subansiri district administration, seeking action against land grabbing in Daporijo township.

The ATYO said that “many illegal private structures have been constructed in the premises allotted for cremation-cum-burial ground by government within the township,” and added that “many private individuals have started kitchen gardens and other structures on government land with the intention of occupying the plots.”

The union and the organisation informed that the boundary wall constructed around the cremation ground has been demolished by unidentified persons

but no action has been initiated by the administration against the perpetrators.

The ATSU in its complaint letter to the DC said that “many government quarters have been destroyed by antisocial elements in broad daylight,” and that the administration has been informed about it to take action against the perpetrators.

It demanded “immediate action against the land encroachers and all the perpetrators involved in destroying government quarters.”

The union and the organisation have demanded that all relevant documents of the government quarters under every department be furnished.
