Peddlers arrested, drug seized

AALO, 19 Sep: The West Siang police arrested two drug peddlers, identified as Mikjum Ete and Raju Vishkarma, and seized 10.54 grams of suspected heroin from their possession.

The police received information on 17 September from a reliable source that Ete, along with his friend Vishkarma, were transporting contraband in a Maruti Alto car (AR-01Q-5821) towards Aalo by the Likabali-Aalo road.

On receiving the information, SP Abhimanyu Poswal constituted a police team comprising PS OC Inspector Duto Bagra, SI (P) Moli Kamdak, SI (P) Lakhi Mena, SI (P) Likha John, Head Constable SK Singh, and Constables B Ingo, T Taikam, M Hemi, and N Ori.

Under the SP’s supervision, the team, headed by Inspector Bagra, along with Executive Magistrate Maryom Karlo and a team of the Paktu Aao Youth Welfare Association, set up a naka near Darka village.

They intercepted the car at 10 pm and arrested the duo. During a body search, one packet of polythene in a soap case, containing suspected heroin, weighing 10.54 grams, was found and seized, along with two mobile handsets and the vehicle.

A case [u/s 21 (b)/27 (a) of NDPS Act] has been registered at the police station here, and the accused have been remanded to police custody, the SP said. (DIPRO)
