In a hugely decisive action, the education department has terminated the jobs of the 255 people who were illegally appointed. The illegal appointees were PRTs, TGTs, UDCs, LDCs and MTSs who were illegally appointed since 2020, in violation of the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) Recruitment Rules, 2018. This decision to terminate the jobs of the illegally appointed employee’s just months ahead of the assembly election is massive in every manner. The education department has come under the scanner in recent months over these illegal appointments, and the people of the state were waiting for some kind of strong action against such practice.
While the case is being investigated by the SIC, the public wanted some visible action from the department’s side. It is alleged that most of these appointees are linked to powerful people, including elected representatives. With the election nearing, many of them reportedly tried to put pressure on political leadership to stop the department from initiating strong action against them. Therefore, considering all the scenarios, the education department deserves appreciation for not succumbing to political pressure and initiating decisive action against the illegally appointed candidates. However, the department still needs to act against the officials who were involved in the scam. Now it needs to initiate strong action against those officials who were involved in the scam.
