In a hugely encouraging news, the ministry of road, transport & highways (MoRTH) has allocated Rs. 3890 crore for the construction of frontier highway in Arunachal Pradesh. This highway officially notified as NH 913 will connect villages situated along the McMahon Line on the India-China border. This is one of the most important strategic road projects being taken up in the state. Union minister Kiren Rijiju, who is an MP from the state, has been consistently pushing this project.
Finally, the government of India has heeded and has sanctioned the project. Now that the funds have been allocated the tender process will follow. As the election is nearing most probably the project will be taken up by the new government only. This frontier highway once completed will massively help the people living along the Indo-China border. Apart from helping locals, it is going to be massively important for the armed forces. China has been upgrading infrastructure on their side of the border. After the Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) which connects all the district headquarters of the state, the frontier highway is the biggest road project to come up in the state. However, TAH also took a lot of time to complete. Learning from it, the state government should properly plan to ensure that the frontier highway is completed on time.
