Conduct APPSC exams in mid-2025

Editor,

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to express my anger and grievance against the APPSC chairman and his team.

It has been almost half-a-year since the new APPSC team was constituted, and it released the examination calendar only after hue and cry by some aspiring candidates.

Though the exam calendar was published on Monday, it seems that it was prepared in a hurry, and without proper planning.

The chairman should understand that APPSC exams have not been conducted for three years now. Since it was not conducting exams, most unemployed youths have been preparing for other exams, as it is common sense that we can’t stay unemployed just because the APPSC is not conducting exams.

The other exams – especially banking, SSC and the APSSB – have completely different syllabi and exam patterns and require completely different strategies. The APPSC exams are tough and high-level, requiring in-depth study of general studies subject with answers in essay form that require a completely different strategy and approach.

Most importantly, to crack this exam, students require almost eight hours of study daily for a year to get a strong grasp of the subjects and write answers in essay form.

Unless they belong to affluent families, most unemployed youths will not be able to afford the risk to prepare for the UPSC civil service exams, and stay unemployed. These candidates are ready only for the APPSC exams; the others will have been preparing for exams based on aptitude, which include logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, general awareness, and general English.

Therefore it is my request to the APPSC chairman and its members to conduct the APPSC exam at around mid-2025, so that all candidates get a level playing field.

There are many candidates who can afford to take a year to prepare for the UPSC exams, while candidates like us are anxious and underprepared.
