Violation of APST reservation

Editor,

I am writing to bring to your attention a concerning issue regarding the recent advertisement issued by the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) for the posts of Forester and Forest Guard. A closer examination of the advertisement reveals a glaring disparity in the number of vacancies allocated for Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) candidates compared to those for the general category.

The advertisement lists a significantly lower number of posts for APST candidates, which appears to violate the mandated 80:20 ratio for reservation. This ratio is crucial for ensuring fair representation and opportunities for the indigenous APST community in state government jobs.

In contrast, the general category has been allocated a disproportionately higher number of vacancies. This disparity raises concerns about the fairness and equity of the selection process.

I urge the APSSB to revisit the advertisement and rectify this imbalance by increasing the number of vacancies for APST candidates to adhere to the 80:20 ratio. This will ensure a level playing field for all candidates and uphold the principles of reservation.

I request you to bring this matter to the attention of the concerned authorities and the public, seeking immediate action to address this issue.
