ITANAGAR, 16 Dec: A team of the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU), led by its education secretary Arun Riang, on Sunday inspected several remote schools in Papum Pare district and addressed the challenges faced by them.
These schools included the government residential school in Nakar (Silsango circle), the government residential school in Nyopang (Silsango circle), the government residential school for girls in Pan (Mengio circle), and the government middle school in Sakiang.
In remote Kulung village in Mengio circle, the team provided a hearing device to a student of the IV school on medical advice. The team had earlier learnt that the student displayed an exceptional passion for learning but had been challenged due to hearing problem.
The ANSU members distributed essential supplies
such as sports equipment, books, stationery and sanitary pads to the students at all the schools they visited.
In addition, the team conducted thorough inspection of the school buildings and infrastructure. Public meetings were held with villagers, students and teaching staffers to understand their concerns. “These interactions revealed a common challenge across all schools – severe shortage of subject teachers, which has significantly impacted the students’ ability to receive quality education,” the union informed in a release.
Riang assured the communities that the ANSU would advocate swift action from relevant authorities to address the issues identified, and emphasized the union’s dedication to resolving these challenges, the release stated.
“This mission highlights the ANSU’s steadfast commitment to bridging educational gaps in underserved and remote areas. By providing immediate support and advocating systemic improvements, the ANSU continues to inspire change and empower communities to strive for better educational outcomes,” it added.
