Editor,
I am writing to suggest that the APPSC adopt a new exam pattern for PGT and TGT exams, similar to the one followed by KVS. This new pattern would not only speed up the examination process but also save valuable human resources and time.
The proposed pattern would consist of two stages: a written exam and a direct viva voce. The written exam could comprise only multiple-choice questions, with a marking pattern as follows: English – 10 marks, general knowledge – 30 marks, perspective on education and leadership – 40 marks, and subject concerned – 100 marks. This would be followed by an interview worth 20 marks, totalling 200 marks.
This pattern is more streamlined and efficient compared to the current one, which often leads to delays and frustration among aspirants.
The current pattern for PGT and TGT is lengthy and time-consuming. Adopting a pattern like KVS would enable the APPSC to conduct the pending PGT and TGT exams within 2-3 months without the need for re-advertisement.
I believe that adopting this new pattern would be beneficial for all stakeholders involved. It would not only reduce the exam duration but also make the process more efficient and candidate-friendly.
Interestingly, a similar suggestion was also made by a reader in your esteemed daily on 21 January, 2025. I hope that the APPSC will take note of this suggestion and implement the new exam pattern at the earliest.
