Editor,
I write this on behalf of many concerned AE candidates, with deep respect for the commission’s dedication to maintaining fairness and academic integrity in the examination process.
This year’s AE syllabus has undergone a major expansion with the introduction of seven new subjects in addition to the already extensive syllabus which were not there in the last 25 years.
Furthermore, the inclusion of engineering aptitude and other newly added topics being tested for the first time demands a significant amount of study time for proper understanding and mastery.
At present, there is only a 35-day gap between the announcement of the preliminary results and the commencement of the main examination. Such a short preparation period makes it extremely difficult for candidates to thoroughly revise the existing material and adequately prepare for the new subjects. This creates a situation where many capable candidates might be unable to perform to their full potential, not due to lack of merit, but due to insufficient preparation time and deteriorating health caused by sleepless nights to cover up the syllabus.
We respectfully request that the commission extend the AE mains examination date by at least 15 additional days, making the total preparation time 45 days. This modest adjustment would allow candidates to study the new subjects with the depth they require, maintain fairness, given the unprecedented syllabus changes, and uphold the commission’s longstanding commitment to giving candidates a level playing field.
We believe this will result in a fairer, more competitive, and academically robust examination, ultimately reflecting positively on the commission’s reputation for justice and transparency.
