Editor,
I wish to register a matter of grave concern regarding the protracted and opaque non-disclosure of the marks statement for the 2024-25 combined competitive examination conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
Despite the culmination of the entire recruitment cycle, candidates remain inexplicably uninformed about their individual performance.
Although many of us did not feature in the final selected list, the right to access our evaluated scores in both the mains and the interview is a constitutionally anchored entitlement. It flows directly from the principles of natural justice, procedural fairness, and administrative transparency, which no public authority can lawfully dilute or circumvent. Such a right is inviolable, indispensable, and immune to discretionary curtailment under any circumstance.
Regrettably, despite submitting an RTI application more than two months ago, the commission has issued no acknowledgment, no clarification, and no justification. This extended silence transcends mere administrative delay and has begun to engender profound scepticism about the commission’s institutional probity, operational integrity, and commitment to transparent governance.
When a constitutional body hesitates to disclose even the most fundamental information, it inevitably erodes public confidence and casts a long shadow over the credibility of the examination process.
Timely revelation of marks is not a procedural courtesy. It is a critical evaluative instrument. It enables aspirants to conduct a rigorous diagnostic appraisal of their performance, identify systemic and personal lacunae, and recalibrate their preparation with greater precision. Withholding such essential data is antithetical to meritocracy, detrimental to candidates’ progress, and contrary to the ethos of fairness that should guide public service recruitment.
I earnestly exhort the APPSC to release the marks statement without further deferment or equivocation. An immediate disclosure would not only reaffirm the commission’s fidelity to constitutional norms but also restore public trust and safeguard the moral legitimacy of the recruitment framework.
