A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was finalised between the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) and Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) to promote academic, research, and institutional collaboration aimed at strengthening sustainable rural livelihoods in the state.

The MoU seeks to enhance cooperation in areas such as research, capacity building, internships, field-based studies, documentation, and knowledge management, in alignment with the objectives of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission. It also aims to promote research collaboration and knowledge sharing between the ArSRLM and the university.

If effectively implemented, the MoU will facilitate collaboration between the two institutions to explore ways and means of strengthening sustainable livelihood options in rural areas. It will also enable the exchange of ideas among rural communities, the university, and the ArSRLM, helping to identify shared opportunities for all stakeholders and bringing these organisations and communities together.

Collective and scientifically driven engagements that can infuse fresh ideas into community needs must be explored. Sustainability requires innovative thinking that aligns with ground realities, including strategies to address the challenges posed by climate change. As climate change increasingly influences sustainability and livelihoods, this MoU represents a step forward in promoting research grounded in both indigenous knowledge and scientific inquiry.
