On the third day of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly’s budget session, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein presented a Rs 36,607 crore budget for FY 2026-27, balancing ambition with fiscal prudence. With a deficit of Rs 701.43 crore, the budget underscores the government’s intent to invest in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and livelihood generation.

The budget gave emphasis on road connectivity as roads are lifelines for healthcare access, education and overall development of the state. The budget also aims to empower the youths with skill development and generate employment opportunities, while highlighting governance reforms.

By prioritising connectivity, healthcare, education, and livelihoods, the government has laid out a roadmap that seeks to transform Arunachal into a more inclusive society. However, the benefit of the budget proposals will depend on the efficiency of implementation and transparency in governance. With efficient fiscal management, the budget proposals could become a turning point, ushering in a new era of development.
