RUKSIN, May 30: The villagers of Debing under Ruksin circle of East Siang district have built 14 cottages.
There are three clusters of cottages-green, orange, and red-and each cluster has been demarcated with ropes.
Volunteers have been deployed to ensure that those on quarantine maintain social distancing.
The huts were made of bamboo and other locally available materials at 4 km east of the village, informed All East Siang District Student Union vice president (admin) Kalut Dai, who is spearheading the work.
He further informed that food and other essential items are being provided to the returnees observing quarantine by their families while the food for volunteers is being arranged by SHGs.
‘The volunteers will guard them round-the-clock and ensure that they don’t break the rules,’ said HGB Yon Yomso.
The returnees are undergoing home quarantine in these cottages after they were discharged from the institutional quarantine after testing negative for Covid-19. Medical examination of the people on quarantine will be done after 14 days and if found healthy, they will be allowed to go home.
