KITPI, Sep 18: An ‘awareness-cum-training programme’ for anganwadi workers (AWW) and farmwomen of Kitpi circle was conducted by the Tawang KVK as part of the Poshan Maah observation here on Friday.
Kitpi CO Tsering Choden appealed to the AWWs to ensure providing a balanced diet to children and women to reduce malnutrition, and advised growing nutritional kitchen gardens.
Home science specialist Dorjee Yodon Thungon briefed about the importance of the Poshan Maah celebration and emphasized on nutrition, while agronomy scientist CK Singh spoke on “bio-fortified varieties and nutritional kitchen gardening layout.”
Plant protection expert Lakshmipriya Borah also spoke.
In Longding district, 46 beneficiaries, including 43 AWWs, attended the training programme on nutritional kitchen gardening organized by the Longding KVK on Friday.
KVK Head, Dr A Kirankumar Singh highlighted the importance of Poshan Maah and imparted training in kitchen gardening.
Vegetable seeds were later distributed among the participants.
The national nutrition month is also being observed in Tirap district, involving the line departments.
Sixteen villages have so far been covered under the programme in the district, promoting healthy and balanced diet, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, nutri-garden, immunization and antenatal care, growth monitoring, health and hygiene, etc, informed CDPO N Matey. (With DIPROs’ inputs)
