DC urges women to take interest in skill development

AALO, Jan 4: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan has urged women to take keen interest in skill development to seek self-employment opportunities.
She said this while distributing certificates from the National Council for Vocational Training and SSC to the 61 trainees who completed a vocational training course conducted by the GPTI Skill Training Institute here under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) on Thursday.
Entrepreneurs who have successfully set up their own ventures after receiving skill-development training were also felicitated during the programme.
The function was organized by the GPTI in collaboration with the UD & Housing department.
GPTI Chairman Topu Basar Ete spoke about vocational training courses for unemployed persons being provided by the Centre. So far 9000 persons have been imparted vocational training by the GPTI, Ete informed.
UD & Housing Deputy Director Halley Welly said more such skill development training programmes on various trades under the DAY-NULM will be conducted for both men and women. (DIPRO)
