Covid positivity rate continues rising in ICR, says DC

ITANAGAR, 14 May: Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom said that the Covid positivity rate is continuing to rise in the ICR.

Briefing the press at his office here on Friday, the DC said that, as per the report of the health department, Covid cases and deaths related to it are still rising in the ICR.

On the issue of further continuation of the ongoing lockdown, the DC said that, “based on a report of the health department, the district magistrates take decision on declaration of containment zones (lockdown).”

He appealed to the people to follow the lockdown measures, and said the police and the magistrates on the field are working hard to impose containment measures.

Potom informed that three more vaccination centres will be opened in the ICR, based on the requirements of the health department.

“The new vaccination centres will be at ESS Sector and Niti Vihar in Itanagar, and another one in Lekhi. If the health department requires more centres, we are ready to provide,” said the DC.

He expressed serious concern over the report that a few antisocial elements are unnecessarily harassing the truckers carrying essential service items to the ICR.

“The public should not harass those essential service carriers. If they find anything wrong, please report to the authorities. I make it very clear that the district administration will take strong action against those who harass them,” said Potom.
