TAWANG, 21 Jul: Tawang District Level Task Force (DLTF) in its meeting held here on Wednesday prepared a comprehensive action plan for effective implementation of the Plastic Waste Management Rules (PWMR) and to do away with single-use plastic and polythene materials in the district by 2022.
In order to implement the PWMR- 2016, magistrates, police and bazaar secretaries have been directed to carry out regular drives in the township area.
It was decided that as per the comprehensive action plan, the task force shall be constituted from sub-division level to village level.
IEC programmes would also be carried out with the help of PRI leaders, local media, NGOs and students.
As per PWMR- 2016 the permissible thickness for plastic/ polythene bags is 50 microns or above. (DIPRO)
