CHANGLANG, Jan 25: The Changlang battalion of the Assam Rifles apprehended one Kuhang Songthing, a self-styled Private of the NSCN (IM), on Thursday during an operation.
On a specific input regarding an insurgent trying to terrorize and extort money from Longpha village, the battalion launched an operation and apprehended Songthing.
A single-bore rifle, a ledger containing extortion details, extortion slips, and other incriminating evidence were seized from his possession.
On interrogation, he admitted to collecting extortion money in the area.
