SIYUM, 11 Mar: Ten houses were reduced to ashes in a devastating fire accident that occurred in Baki village in Siyum circle of Upper Subansiri district at around 10 am on 10 March.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. However, no casualty has been reported.
Immovable and movable properties worth crores of rupees were destroyed in the fire.
“Had there been a fire tender, many houses could have been saved from burning. Since there is no fire station, there could be more chance of fire accidents in the near future,” one of the victims said.
“There are also no administrative officers, despite having ADC post, to look after the public grievances on time, especially during emergencies,” he added.
Demanding that all the government officers and staffs should be at their places of posting to serve the public, the locals appealed to the higher authority to look into the matter seriously.
