ITANAGAR, 12 Mar: Three children, including a two-year-old, were injured when one of them tried to play with an unexploded hand grenade in Upper Chinhan village in Lazu circle of Tirap district on Saturday.
The incident occurred at around 12 noon. The injured children are aged 10, two, and 3½ years.
All Ollo Students’ Union president Kamshom Teppa informed that the grenade exploded when the 10-year-old played with it. Reportedly, the children found the unused hand grenade, wrapped in a polythene bag, near the village.
The 10-year-old is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dibrugarh (Assam). It is learnt that his jaw has been injured, and that he might be suffering from internal injuries also.
The other two children were not severely injured and are under observation at the district hospital in Khonsa.
