MECHUKHA, 22 Mar: Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona on Tuesday gave away the prizes to the winners in various disciplines of the first Shi-Yomi district Olympics games here.
The games, which were kicked off on 18 March, were organised in Monigong and Mechukha.
Speaking on the occasion, the speaker congratulated the Shi-Yomi District Olympics Association for conducting the events despite so many difficulties.
“The youths should channel their potentials and avoid wasting their time in unproductive activities,” Sona said, adding that “games and sports not only help build one’s career but also keep them healthy and fit.”
Stating that the drug menace is one of the biggest challenges the state is facing today, the speaker made a fervent appeal to the youths not to indulge in substance abuse.
Monigong circle emerged the overall champion with 10 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze medals, while Mechukha circle stood second with 5 gold and 4 silver medals. Pidi circle bagged 2 gold and 2 silver medals to stand third, while Tato circle was placed in the fourth place with 1 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medals. The newly created Rapum circle bagged 1 silver medal.
Among others, Mechukha ADC Bairo Sorum and the DDSE were present on the occasion. (Speaker’s PR Cell)
