BHALUKPONG, 4 Apr: The West Kameng police, along with the district administration, organised a ‘cyber awareness campaign’ here last Saturday in public interest.
West Kameng SP B Bharat Reddy, who was the main speaker of the event, explained various kinds of cyber crimes, such as phishing, fake calls, fake social media profiles, etc. The SP shared various case studies that occurred in West Kameng district itself.
“Fraudsters always try to grab personal details such as OTP, bank account details, and UPI details to illegally collect money,” he said.
“While talking with unknown callers on the phone, neither OTP nor UPI or bank details of any kind must be shared. Also, no link given by an unknown person must be clicked on, nor data entered in an unknown link. No app suggested by any person should be installed on your phones,” the SP said.
Bhalukpong EAC Kesang Goiba cautioned the people against “getting lured by fake vehicle and phone sellers on social media who deactivate accounts after receiving the money upfront from gullible victims.”
Bhalukpong PS OC Dujom Bagra also spoke.
The GPCs, GBs, market leaders and employees attended the programme.
