ITANAGAR, 16 May: The Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) reiterated its demand for early implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 1978 (APFRA, 1978), issuing notification of its draft rule and immediate restoration of the already notified department of Indigenous Faith and Cultural Affairs from the ‘existing renamed Department of Indigenous Affairs.’
The IFCSAP said that several community-based indigenous faith groups, district units of the IFCSAP and members of various prayer and cultural centres, like Nyedar Namlo, Golgi Bote Gangging, Kargu Gamgi, Meder Nello, Donyi Polo Namlo, Tancho Klumya, Rangshomhum etc. have started staging peaceful sit-in dharna in the districts and the capital region on 15 May, demanding immediate fulfilment of the two demands.
“Apart from expressing anguish over the failure of the state government to keep its promise, they are exerting tremendous pressure on the central executive committee, IFCSAP to take up the issue at the highest level,” the IFCSAP said in a release.
