MIAO, 9 Jul: Local MLA and UD Minister Kamlung Mossang inaugurated a ‘traditional collections, ethnic handloom & handicrafts emporium’ here in Changlang district on Saturday.
“With the commission of the Miao- Vijaynagar road and location of the biodiversity rich Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve, Miao will soon become a permanent tourist destination,” Mossang said after the inauguration.
Commending the women’s wing of the Tangsa Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) for initiating steps to popularise and preserve traditional attires, he suggested ways for “improving the quality of traditional attires, considering the trends of fashion, without distorting traditional designs and looks.”
The minister advised the women’s wing to “include the traditional attires of all tribes of Arunachal Pradesh in the menu of the emporium to attract customers.”
Later, Mossang, along with Miao ADC Ibom Tao, EAC Namrata Bhatt, TBCA president BK Chena and TBCA executive secretary Wangtum Wanglee planted ornamental trees.
The event was organised by the women’s wing of the TBCA, in collaboration with the Nongtham Handloom Cluster Producers Company Limited and the Navi Weaving & Tailoring Training Centre.
