PASIGHAT, 11 Feb: Over 20 women participated in a cyclothon themed ‘Freedom to walk cycle run and cycle to work campaign’, organised here by the Pasighat Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (PSDCL), in collaboration with the East Siang district administration, the Women Against Social Evil (WASE), and the Adi Bane Ane Kebang, on Saturday.
The event was aimed at promoting walking, cycling and running, making the streets safer for pedestrians, and discouraging drug abuse.
The cyclothon was led by PSDCL CEO Dr Manjuli Komut and WASE general secretary Jaya Tasing Moyong, in the presence of DC Tayi Taggu, 5th IRBn Commandant Aishwarya Sharma, Chief Municipal Councillor Okiam Moyong Borang, PMC Member Secretary Tani Taloh, the district disaster management officer, and others.
Borang and Sharma commended the PSDCL for organising the event, and lauded the WASE and the ABAK “for giving their selfless service in need and also their commendable job in eradicating social stigma and use of abusive substances.”
Both recommended walking and cycling to people of all genders. (DIPRO)
